Child Safety Standards

Percep2 is an adult service with a strict minimum age, and there is no tolerance whatsoever for content or behaviour that sexualises or endangers a child. This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to, how to raise a concern, and exactly what happens when someone does.

Last updated 25 August 2026 · Applies to the Percep2 mobile app and percep2.com

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In Malta that is 112. Report it to us as well, but do not wait for us before calling.

1 · Our standards

Percep2 prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation — referred to below as CSAE — in every form. This is not a moderation preference that gets weighed against other factors. It is an absolute rule, and an account found to be involved is removed permanently, without warning and without appeal.

These standards are written to meet Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy, and to comply with Maltese and European Union law on the protection of minors and on the reporting of child sexual abuse material.

Percep2 is built and run by one person. That makes the review queue short and the chain of responsibility direct: a report about a child does not sit in a tier-one queue waiting to be escalated. It reaches the person who can act on it.

2 · Minimum age

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Percep2 account. This matches the minimum age set out in our Privacy Policy and Terms.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it and the messages sent from it. We do not ask the account holder to prove otherwise first.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has signed up, write to safety@percep2.com and we will remove the account. You do not need to know their password or the email they registered with — the display name and rough location are usually enough for us to find it.

3 · What is prohibited

The following are prohibited on Percep2 without exception. Note that while the minimum age to use the service is 16, anyone under 18 is treated as a child for everything in this section.

  • Sexual content involving, depicting, or appearing to depict a person under 18 — whether photographic, drawn, written, or generated by any tool.
  • Sexualising a child in any way, including commentary on a real child that presents them in a sexual manner.
  • Grooming: building a relationship with a child in order to sexually exploit or abuse them, or attempting to move such a conversation to another platform.
  • Soliciting sexual content or sexual contact from a person under 18.
  • Sextortion: threatening to release intimate material in order to coerce a child.
  • Trafficking a child, or advertising, facilitating or arranging their exploitation.
  • Sharing, requesting, or linking to child sexual abuse material anywhere, including in a private chat or a profile picture.

Attempting any of the above is treated the same as doing it. So is using Percep2 to make contact that then continues elsewhere.

4 · Reporting inside the app

Every user profile in Percep2 can be reported from the app, and reporting takes a few seconds. Open the profile, choose Report, and pick a reason.

There is a dedicated reason for this: “Involves a minor”, described in the app as sexual content involving a child, or contact with a child. Choosing it flags the report as a child safety matter and moves it to the front of the queue.

You can add a description, and you can block the person at the same time. The person you report is never told who reported them.

5 · Reporting to us directly

If you cannot use the in-app report — because the account has already gone, because you are not a Percep2 user, or because you are reporting on behalf of a child — write to safety@percep2.com.

Please do not attach or forward the material itself. Possessing and transmitting child sexual abuse material is a criminal offence in most jurisdictions, including for someone acting in good faith. Describe what you saw instead, and give us the display name, the chat, and roughly when it happened. That is enough for us to find it.

6 · What happens after a report

Reports flagged as involving a minor are the highest priority we have, and are reviewed ahead of everything else. We aim to act within 24 hours of receiving one.

Where a report is substantiated:

  • The content is removed from the service.
  • The account is terminated permanently, along with any other account we can attribute to the same person.
  • The relevant records — messages, timestamps, coordinates, and account details — are preserved for law enforcement rather than deleted, even where our normal retention periods would have removed them.
  • The matter is escalated as described in the next section.

We do not disclose the identity of the person who reported to the person reported.

7 · Working with authorities

Credible reports of CSAE are escalated to the Malta Police Force Cyber Crime Unit, and, where the material or the people involved fall within its scope, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children through its CyberTipline.

We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement and from child protection agencies, and we will preserve data on request while a matter is being investigated.

8 · Point of contact

The point of contact for child safety — for users, for Google, and for law enforcement — is safety@percep2.com. It is monitored directly by the developer.

For anything that is not a child safety matter: support@percep2.com for general support, and privacy@percep2.com for data protection and privacy rights.
